ENVIRONMENT AND HEALTH |
In response to the consumers desire for natural, pesticide and chemical-free products, Minton Sun, Inc. has begun to put into action an Integrated Pest Management system. The objective of this program is to eventually produce citrus which is less dependent on chemical pesticides, herbicides or insecticides. The ultimate effect of this system of Integrated Pest Management may not only benefit the consumer, but also reduce the impact of agricultural activity on the entire ecosystem, free the groves from chemical dependency and ultimately reduce the cost of production and improve the return on investment. The IPM concept, unlike some other growing programs, guides the grower to implement variable pest control measures in response to specific conditions present in each individual grove using beneficial insects, natural organic oils and natural non-toxic chemicals, such as sulfur and copper. |
