PROFILE
A Minton generation
Early generations

Minton Sun is led by the third generation of Mintons; president John Minton and his brothers Tom, Michael and Rick.

Tom, in charge of grove production, keeps alive the growing tradition handed down by his grandfather. Michael, as a member of the Board of Directors, is involved in the long term planning and financial strategies of the company. The Minton's have followed the guidelines set forth by their forefathers three generations ago. Today Minton Sun is an agricultural enterprise of many interests.
The fourth generation of Minton's will insure the family tradition and leadership to lead the company in the new millennium.

HISTORY

Minton - 1962
The Minton Sun packinghouse was built in 1962

For the past 100 years, the Minton family has been in the agricultural business in Florida.

First in Hasting, Florida, growing potatoes and citrus. Then, over several decades, the family invested in land around St. Lucie County, and planted grapefruit and orange groves. The Minton's helped build the Diamond R fertilizer company,  and expanded their land holdings to the current 6000 acres.
The Minton's have always had a definite philosophy about growing high quality citrus. Since the first grove, they only choose land with heavy soil, rich in marl, shell and other organic materials to guarantee strong, healthy trees able to produce healthy fruits for many decades. They also selected the best root stocks for their grapefruit for superior flavor, texture and shape.
