The Minton Sun
packinghouse is designed to run primarily grapefruit. The equipment is set
to dump approximately 1500 field boxes per hour. The packing capacity is
approximately 1500 cartons per hour. This allows us to move a large volume
of fruit through the house and be very selective of the quality. The house
is equipped with an Autoline electronic sizer. This allows us to be very
accurate with the size diameter of the fruit to product a very uniform
carton. We have several different label banks that allow us to provide all
the U.S. required PLU stickers and we also have our own company labels.
Minton Sun has the latest in barcode scanning for carton, brand, size and
packer information. This system reads printed barcodes applied by the
packers then prints all the information needed on the carton with high
speed jet printers. This makes a much cleaner carton than hand stamping.
The Minton Sun packinghouse is ideally suited for export packing which is
the bulk of its output.
